VANDALISM AT RECREATION GROUND

The Parish Council are saddened to report that a number of trees, waste bins and play equipment were damaged by vandals in the Recreation Ground on Wednesday 18 July 2018.

One tree, a Silver Birch, was felled completely and a Memorial Tree planted by the WI for their 100 years Anniversary was severely damaged.

WWI LAMP POST POPPY SPONSORSHIP

Following the positive reception received from the large poppies placed on lamp posts in the village in time for last years Remembrance Parade, the Parish Council are planning to erect a minimum of 100 of these poppies again this year to mark 100 years since the end of WWI.

CARNIVAL 2018

Broughton Astley Carnival 2018 takes place on Thomas Estley field and in the Village Hall on Saturday 23 June 2018.

This years theme is 'The Magic of Musicals'.

The parade will commence at 12noon when a rolling road block will be in place to allow safe access for the parade vehicles and participants.

On the field will be live music, BBQ, Stalls, Tug 'O' War, beer tent etc.

COMMUNITY FLOOD WARDEN

Harborough District Council are seeking volunteers to become COMMUNITY FLOOD WARDENS in the local area.

Flood Wardens will be supported by the Local Authorities, the Environment Agency and LLE Prepared and will receive direct flood warnings from the Environment Agency to pass on to neighbours and those at risk from flooding.

New Signs Warn Dog Owners to be Responsible!

New signs have been put up across the Harborough district urging dog owners to walk their pets responsibly.

The signs warn dog owners that they could face fixed fines of £500 – or up to £1,000 if convicted – if they allow their dog to foul, do not put it on a lead when instructed, or fail to produce a bag to pick after their pets.

Have You Got Your Green Bin Sticker?

Subscriptions are now open for residents in the Harborough district to have their garden waste collected from April 2017.

Harborough District Council is inviting residents to sign up for an annual subscription fee of £40 per green bin.

Extra Garden Waste Pick-Up for Subscribers

Residents in the Harborough district who have already subscribed to the council's garden waste collection service will receive an extra green bin collection in January.
