Public Space Protection Orders Survey
The current three-year Public Space Protection Orders (PSPO) for Alcohol Control and Dog Controls will shortly be ending, we are therefore looking to extend these orders for a further three years.
Controlled drinking zones help prevent anti-social behaviour in public places, in Market Harborough and Lutterworth town centres. The PSPO enables the police to deal with anti-social drinking in designated town centre areas. Under the Order, police are able to remove alcohol from those that are committing or may commit anti-social behaviour. It is not illegal to carry alcohol or to drink alcohol in a public space so long as drinking is done responsibly.
The current Dog Control PSPO covers the whole District. It created three offences which covers:
Failing to remove dog faeces
Failing to put a dog on a lead after a request by an authorised officer
Failing to have an appropriate means to pick up dog faeces
These can be enforced by authorised officers at Harborough District Council.
As per the current legislation we are running a consultation with our residents to enable a decision to be made on this proposed extension.
Please access the consultation here: www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/PSPO22
The survey will close on 14 October 2022.
