ESSENTIAL UPDATE - DRAINAGE MAINTENANCE WORKS A5 Smockington to Bittesby
ESSENTIAL DRAINAGE MAINTENANCE WORKS A5 Smockington to Bittesby
We are writing to inform you that unfortunately, after three near miss incidents due to drivers ignoring our road closure, therefore putting members of our workforce at risk of serious injury, the decision has been taken to put in place further junction closures of the A5.
In order to keep our workforce safe, we have no alternative but to close the A5 between its roundabout junction with Avery Way at Smockington, and its roundabout junction with Mere Lane near Magna Park between 9pm and 6pm. Monday to Friday.
This strategy minimises risk and confusion wherever possible with regards to access along the A5.
Work will continue to take place along the A5 until the end of April 2022. To keep our programme for these works as short as possible and to minimise disruption to the local community, we will continue work overnight between 8pm and 6am, Monday to Friday.
Please note that all our planned works are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances, such as clashes with other emergency work on the diversion routes. During these full road closures, we'll put in place fully signed diversion routes which have been agreed with the local authority.
If you'd like more information about the different phases of our work or a copy of the diversion route drawings, please feel free to get in touch with us. Contact: Public Liaison Officer • Email: EMcomms@amey.co.uk Alternatively, you can contact our Highways England Customer Contact Centre as follows: • Email: email@example.com • Telephone: 0300 123 5000
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will do our very best to complete the work as quickly as possible, keeping disturbances and noise to a minimum.
