Broughton Astley Parish Council

Serving the people of Broughton Astley

Clerk: Debbie Barber
Council Office, Station Road
Broughton Astley, Leicester

The Parish Council office has received notification from Leicestershire County Council Highways clarifying the signage displayed on Coopers Lane, Dunton Bassett and Cottage Lane, Broughton Astley.

Severn Trent Water (STW) originally placed signage detailing the duration period and start date of works to be carried out on Coopers Lane. They quickly realised that the information was incorrect and laid the signs face down as they were unable to remove them at the time. Understandably some people believed that they had been blown over and subsequently stood them back up.

These signs will be replaced ASAP by Severn Trent Water with the correct information.

Access Only signs on Cottage Lane

To clarify - these signs are official and genuine and have not been placed there by residents who live there as suggested by some. The signs are primarily for safety reasons as well as to prevent traffic damaging the verges when two or more vehicles have to pass by.

It is understood that people are only trying to help when standing up signage, but Leicestershire County Council have requested that in future all signage is left where it is as it have been placed there for a purpose by the authority or utility companies.

Any issues on either of these matters should be directed to either Leicestershire County Council on 0116 305 0001 or Severn Trent Water customer relations on 03457 500 500.
