Broughton Astley Parish Council

Serving the people of Broughton Astley

Clerk: Debbie Barber
Council Office, Station Road
Broughton Astley, Leicester

The Parish Council has been informed that unauthorised access has been made into the former Brick Works Quarry off Speedwell Road and that trees and shrubs have been unlawfully cut down.

This area is the only noted Nature Reserve within the village supported by the Rutland Wildlife Trust. Damage to the flora and fauna can and will have a devastating and detrimental effect on the plants and wildlife contained within it. Reducing or removing the trees and shrubs causes erosion to the banks of the quarry and subsequently could raise a safety issue.

The Parish Council are working closely with Harborough District Council in taking steps to prevent any further damage from taking place. Also following recent bouts of fly tipping notices will be placed around the perimeter and the area will be frequently patrolled.

If you witness any unlawful damage to the trees and shrubs or fly tipping please contact the Parish Council at the address given at the top of this website and we will pass this o the relevant authorities.
