GRIT BINS AND SNOWY WEATHER
With inclement weather forecast again this week, the Parish Council would like to re-cap on the responsibilities of public authorities in relation to precautionary gritting and clearance of snow and ice.
Grit should not be taken from the bins by residents for use on their own properties.
The Parish Council undertakes 'Snow Warden' duties on behalf of the County Council to spread grit on certain designated areas using the grit from the Grit Bins located at various locations around the village.
Leicestershire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is responsible for the precautionary salting / gritting of public roads. Any queries relating to gritting and snow clearance should be addressed to the County Council on 0116 305 0001 or firstname.lastname@example.org
The Parish Council has no responsibility for gritting the roads.
