Please see below the latest statement issued by Harborough District Council regarding the bin collections.

Due to the severe weather in Harborough district last week, some bin collections in Harborough district were affected.

Crews are working very hard to catch up. Residents are being asked to leave bins presented. Extra resources are being made available to ensure that all collections happen.

Unfortunately, due to the severe winds [Storm Eleanor] some of Leicestershire County Council's landfill sites have been closed. This means refuse vehicles have further to travel to alternative landfill sites, so some delays are anticipated.

Despite this our collection crews are working extremely hard to reach all scheduled collections and pick up uncollected bins from last week.

Today (Wednesday 3 January), we have a fleet of refuse vehicles in the Broughton Astley area working on scheduled black bin collections and these will aim to return to Broughton Astley today (Wed) to collect recycling bins. We also have a collection crew out in Lutterworth picking up bins which were not collected last Wednesday and the normal scheduled work.

Normal scheduled collections will continue on Thursday and Friday this week. Missed bins from last Thursday and Friday will be collected either Thursday, Friday, Saturday this week or next Monday depending on how collections progress each day. Please keep bins presented at the kerbside.

We are asking residents not to report bins as a missed collection; but instead leave any missed bins presented and crews will endeavour to return and collect.

There will be further updates on the council's website and on social media.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank residents for their continued patience.
